Something About Iowa

Except for two drives in the first quarter, the Penn State offense looked as cold as the night felt at a rain soaked and chilly Beaver Stadium on Saturday. The talk before the Nittany Lions' game against Iowa was of revenge, but the Hawkeyes would have none of it as they capitalized on numerous Penn State miscues in the fourth quarter to defeat the Lions 21-10.

It's Wednesday and Penn State has an important game coming up on Saturday in prime time. The following is one person's prediction for that game...

The PSU offense still looks lack-luster but, in a battle of two good defenses, Penn State uses a raucous sell out crowd in Beaver Stadium to its advantage to escape a potential upset and prove that they are a top 25--though, not top five--team, defeating the Hawkeyes
24-20.

What a Hoot

Penn State's final tune up before starting Big Ten play this weekend, Temple was in town Saturday for a noon kickoff. Like their previous two games, the Nittany Lions easily handled the Owls 31-6. However, this time, instead of airing it out, Penn State returned to the run game to defeat their opponent.

Orange Juice

It was Classic Day in "The House that Joe Built" and a classic opponent, the Syracuse Orange, were in town for a noon time tussle with the Nittany Lions. Again, for the second week in a row Penn State easily defeated their foe roaming the the other sidelines, this time 28-7, to improve to 2-0 on the young college football season.

Zipping By

Last Saturday Penn State opened up their football season with a 31-7 victory over the Akron Zips. As a freelance photographer for The (Lewistown) Sentinel, I was fortunate enough to have a press pass for the game. What follows are a few photos from the game that didn't make it into the following Monday's (The Sentinel does not publish a paper on Sunday) paper.

That's it for the Akron game, however, I will be photographing the rest of Penn State's home football games, so be sure to check back often as the Nittany Lions have eight home dates.
